The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible low-income households with their home energy bills and assists in improving household energy efficiency. Assistance may also include access to weatherization services that reduce long-term energy use and improve home safety.
LIHEAP provides a one-time per calendar year payment for home energy costs. Eligibility is determined by income, household size, and funding availability. Households facing shutoff may receive immediate help.
LIHEAP applicants may qualify for the Home Weatherization program, which improves energy efficiency and safety. Weatherization Services are available FREE to renters and homeowners, including those residing in mobile homes.
