Our history

SAFETY. SERVICE. QUALITY. COMMUNITY!

Central Coast Energy Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization which provides energy conservation, consumer education & advocacy, home improvement, utility assistance, job training, and other services to people in need. We serve Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties.

The program was first known as The Energy Conservation Program and was started by the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County in 1977. In 1982 the program was transferred to USA/Riptide, which later became Democratic Management Services. In 1994, it reverted to CAB. On January 1, 2004, Central Coast Energy Services, Inc separated from CAB. Funding is provided by a number of sources with the largest being the Federal Government through the State of California.
